It Says If you are unable to hold an 8 hour work day 5 days a week then you are disabled yet they say 1 hour a day is enough, they dont even fallow thier own rules.

@PamelaRP how is it a handout ? The money you receive while on ss is money that has been taken out of your paycheck over the years. Of course some people who do not need it somehow manage to get it, but that dose not mean we should punish the people who actually need it by taking it away. Thats just cruel and ignorant. Maybe your co-worker has a mental issue she would rather not share ?

This is a bunch of lies. I have an attorney here in Portland and have been fighting since 2006 and cannot get it no matter what. It is a handout and is welfare and too many people are getting it that are NOT DISABLED. I know someone who is getting it now and we used to work together in an office and now she says she cannot work now when she can walk better than I can and has no physical problems. The SS system is messed up and nothing but a fraud and people who need it cannot get it at all.

It’s not a handout. It’s death sentence by slow starvation. You better have a friend or family member willing to take you in, because you sure as hell can’t live independently on SSI.

Is it necessary to have a lawyer in your local area

Such as do you represent persons not in your state ?

    Thank you

I watched with great interest. Our healthcare system is atrocious. I was a successful attorney before encountering a litany of medical issues. Thereafter, I lost my practice & had to move back to Calif. Im not looking for a handout. Im looking for medical care. How may I get copies of the 2 books you authored? Ive been looking high and low. To be continued.

Yes and no. In most cases an attorney doesn’t help much at the stage of the initial application. However, having an attorney help you fill out the questioning forms that SSA sends you could assist in future appeals. The standard advice that I give most of my clients, is less is better on Social Security forms. It is like the Miranda warning–anything you say will be used against you –and in most cases–not in your favor.

Is there any advantage in having a lawyer file the initial application on your behalf?
